A Munno Parra West shopper picked up more than just a newspaper when they purchased a winning $50,000 Keno Spot 8 entry last week from Playford Alive Newsagency.

The South Australian winner scored a Spot 8 prize of $50,000 in Keno draw 2459198, drawn on Wednesday 30 January 2019.

However, how the winner plans to spend their Keno windfall and enjoy their $50,000 prize will forever be a mystery as they have chosen to remain completely anonymous and celebrate in private.

SA Lotteries spokesperson Ally Ramsamy said while we will never know how the Munno Parra West shopper planned to spend their Keno win, she was sure it would be a great kick-start to the year.

“What a perfect way to kick off 2019 with an extra $50,000 in your bank account!” she said.

“From overseas holidays, to splurging on a new car or a boat, many of our Keno winners tell us their prize will be used for a special item, occasion or holiday they have always dreamed of.

“The ways Keno winners spend their prizes really are as vast and diverse as the players themselves!”

The winning Keno Spot 8 entry was purchased at Playford Alive Newsagency, Shop 3, Playford Alive Marketplace, Corner of Medina Lane and Peachy Road, Munno Parra West.

Playford Alive Newsagency retail assistant Kally Caitlin said she was thrilled the winner had been united with their $50,000 prize.

“We’re really glad the winner has come forward to claim their prize!” she shared.

“I was the one who sold the winning ticket to our customer. It feels great to have made one of our customers $50,000 richer.

“I would love to congratulate the winner in person! I really wish them all the best with their prize.

“We’ve sold Spot 5, Spot 6 and Spot 10 winning entries in the past. We’re thrilled to add this win to the list!

“Hopefully we sell some more big prizes to our customers in the near future!”

In the 12 months to 30 June 2018, there were 19 Keno Spot 8, 9 and 10 winners across South Australia who landed more than $4.52 million.  Spot 10 was won twice during this time – a prize of more than $2.017 million in December 2017 and a prize of more than $1.474 million in April 2018.

Keno is a game whereby 20 numbers are randomly generated from a possible 80. To win a Keno Spot 8 prize, a player must match all eight of the numbers selected on their ticket against the 20 numbers drawn.
