A Murrumba Downs couple are currently planning their dream holiday after discovering they scored division one in the weekend’s Saturday Gold Lotto draw.
The Moreton Bay region residents held one of the seven division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3983 on Saturday 21 September 2019, with each entry taking home a division one prize of $594,970.80.
Confirming their win with a Golden Casket official this afternoon, the pair revealed they made the life-changing discovery during their weekend ritual.
“I don’t believe it,” she laughed.
“We always check our Saturday Gold Lotto tickets on a Sunday morning and yesterday my husband was checking the ticket, ticking off the winning numbers one by one.
“Then he yells out to me ‘we’ve got all six winning numbers’.
“He went completely blank. I didn’t believe him!
“It was absolutely surreal! And still is!”
When asked how they planned to enjoy their welcomed windfall, they revealed it would give them the financial freedom they’d been dreaming of.
“We certainly have some renovations we’ve been wanting to around the house,” she said.
“We’re both retired so we have plenty of time to enjoy our prize.
“We’ll do some travelling and visit our family who lives all over the place.
“This will just make our lives so much easier!”
The winners, who wish to remain anonymous, purchased their winning entry at Castle Hill IGA, Shop 6, 264 Dohles Rocks Road, Murrumba Downs.
Castle Hill IGA manager Divyesh Patel said he was thrilled the outlet had sold its first division one winning entry.
“Everyone here is very excited that we have made one of our customers a division one winner!” he said.
“We hope this is the first of many big wins for our customers.
“Congratulations to the couple and we hope they enjoy their prize.”
In the 12 months to 30 June 2019, Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto and Saturday Gold Lotto created 193 millionaires across Australia.
The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3983 on Saturday 21 September 2019 were 40, 14, 32, 33, 43 and 29, while the supplementary numbers were 24 and 12.
Across Australia, there were seven division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3983, two each from Victoria and New South Wales and one each from Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 272 so far this calendar year, including 59 won by Golden Casket customers.
In the 12 months to 30 June 2019, there were 244 division one winning Saturday Gold Lotto entries across the Lott’s jurisdictions, which collectively won more than $286.6 million.
