A mum from the City of Melton can’t wait to shower her children with unconditional love and gifts for many years to come after taking home $50 million in last night’s Powerball draw with a ticket she purchased online at the last minute.
The Melburnian held one of the two division one winning entries in Powerball draw 1420, drawn Thursday 3 August 2023 and took home $50 million.
The other division one winning entry was a 10-member New South Wales syndicate sold at Rosebery North Newsagency, 68 Dalmeny Avenue, Rosebery.
The victorious Victorian took a little longer to discover her newfound fortune in last night’s Powerball draw as some of her contact details, such as her email, was incorrect.
The gleeful woman couldn’t contain her excitement this morning when she discovered her multi-million-dollar windfall while at work, erupting into a cheer that spread through her workplace.
“I’ve won $50 million? Oh, my goodness!” she yelled.
“I can’t believe this. What a dream come true.
“I had absolutely no idea! I’ve gone to work as per usual this morning and you’ve called to tell me that I’ve won $50 million?
“I’m surrounded by some of my colleagues and they’re all clapping and cheering.
“You wouldn’t believe this. I purchased this winning ticket right before the draw closed.
“I purchased it around 7pm last night after remembering there was $100 million up for grabs.
“This is absolutely life-changing. This will help me look after my kids.
“My kids mean the world to me, and I’ll be able to set them up for the future.
“I’ll also look forward to saying goodbye to my job.
“Thank you so much.”

The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1420 on Thursday 3 August 2023 were 13, 7, 18, 1, 23, 25 and 33. The all-important Powerball number was 7.
