It’s possible someone in New South Wales is going to sleep this evening completely unaware they won tonight’s entire $80 million Powerball jackpot, and suddenly became the third biggest lottery winner in Australian history.

The mystery New South Wales player held the only entry with all seven winning numbers and the all-important Powerball number needed to win division one in tonight’s Powerball draw 1245 and takes home $80 million.

However, officials from the Lott do not have the complete contact details for the online player and have not been able to contact them to break the life-changing news.

The Lott spokesperson Lauren Cooney said one person’s life had just changed in a big way but they might not yet have realised it.

“Imagine going to bed tonight not knowing you’ve just won $80 million? That’s the reality for one New South Wales player after scoring division one in tonight’s Powerball draw!” she exclaimed.

“While the New South Wales entry was purchased online, unfortunately we don’t have their complete contact details so we are unable to make a mind-blowing phone call to them this evening.

“That is why we are encouraging everyone in New South Wales to check their entries because they may be the multi-millionaire we are searching for!

“While we are unable to confirm the win with tonight’s winner, we can guarantee that when they discover the news, their life is set to change and they will truly be able to play by their own rules!”

Ms Cooney said no Australian had ever won an $80 million Powerball prize before, with previous jackpots of this prize being shared.

In addition to tonight’s $80 million division one prize, a total of 1,916,815 winners won more than $33.9 million in divisions two to nine. This included five division two winners, who each take home $188,293.35.

It’s estimated up to one-in-three adult Australians had an entry into tonight’s draw.

This is the second Powerball division one winner of the decade and the largest Powerball jackpot offered so far this year.

In 2019, 14 Powerball division one winners across Australia pocketed more than $541.87 million in prize money. Of these Powerball division one wins, five landed in New South Wales, four in Queensland, three in Victoria and two in South Australia.

The numbers drawn tonight in Powerball draw 1245 on Thursday 26 March 2020 were 14, 21, 16, 12, 1, 29 and 27 and the Powerball number was 7.

The Lott’s division one winning tally across all Australian lottery games has now reached 271 so far this calendar year.

The home of Australia’s Official Lotteries, the Lott operates and markets Australia’s leading lottery games customers know and love creating everyday winners, winning every day.

Last financial year, more than 131.8 million winners took home more than $3.3 billion in prize money from their favourite games at the Lott, including Saturday Lotto, Monday and Wednesday Lotto, Powerball, Oz Lotto, Set for Life, Lucky Lotteries, Keno, Super 66, Lotto Strike and Instant Scratch-Its.

In the 12 months to 30 June 2019, Australia’s Official Lotteries contributed more than $1.4 billion via state lottery taxes and donations to help community initiatives, such as hospitals, health research, disaster relief and education.
