A Gold Coast player has kicked off the week a millionaire after checking their Saturday Lotto ticket to realise they won $1.8 million in the weekend’s draw.
The Queenslander held one of the 11 division one winning entries across Australia in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4049 on Saturday 9 May 2020. Each entry won a division one prize of $1,818,181.82.
However, how the newly minted millionaire plans to spend their windfall will forever be a mystery as they have chosen to remain completely anonymous and celebrate in private.
The winning entry was purchased at Carrara Village Newsagency, Coco Shopping Centre, Corner of Gooding Drive & Manchester Road, Carrara.
The Lott spokesperson Lauren Cooney said while we might never know how the Gold Coast player planned to spend their prize, she was sure discovering the news was one of the best ways to start the week.
“What an incredible way to kick off the week, discovering you were taking home $1.8 million!” she exclaimed.
“Other winners tell us they love to share their windfall with their families, go on overseas holidays, pay off their mortgages or buy a new home.
“However our winner chooses to enjoy their windfall, we are sure it has changed their life forever!”
In 2019, Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto and Saturday Gold Lotto created 203 millionaires across Australia.
The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4049 on Saturday 9 May 2020 were 35, 39, 38, 22, 21 and 7, while the supplementary numbers were 34 and 44.
Across Australia, there were 11 division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4049 – four from Victoria, three from New South Wales, two from Western Australia, and one each from South Australia and Queensland.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 118 so far this calendar year, including 35 won by Golden Casket customers.
Between 1 January and 31 December 2019, there were 289 division one winning Saturday Gold Lotto entries across Australia, which collectively won more than $333.41 million.
