A Kellyville man has unknowingly lived as a millionaire for five and a half weeks, with a winning Saturday Lotto ticket worth $1.4 million collecting dust on his dresser.

The Sydneysider held one of the seven division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Lotto draw 4595, drawn Saturday 2 August 2025. Each division one winning entry pocketed $1,428,571.43.

As the winning entry wasn’t registered to The Lott Members Club, officials from The Lott had no way of contacting the ticketholder and had to wait for him to check his ticket and come forward.

This win follows other recent cases of delayed lottery discoveries, including a Coburg man who claimed his $1 million prize 244 days after a draw, and a $100 million Sydney winner who has yet to come forward.

“It’s amazing news. I can’t believe it still!” the newly-minted millionaire cheered.

“I had absolutely no idea. The ticket was just sitting at home until I went to the newsagency to buy another one. I was just going to replay the ticket I had, and that’s when it showed I won!

“It was actually sitting on my dresser for the whole five weeks.

“The prize is going to be a big help for me and my family.

“I’ll take care of my children and put away a bit for them to help them buy a house.

“I’ll definitely be going on a holiday too. I’m going to start planning it.

“Funnily enough, I just found an old ticket from 2021 that I have to check too. I have a bad habit of buying unregistered tickets. Maybe it’ll be another winner!

“Thank you so much!”

His winning entry was purchased from Kellyville Newsagency, Shop 2, 27 Windsor Road, Kellyville.

Kellyville Newsagency owners Bhumika and Purav Patel said they were thrilled to sell their first division one winning entry.

“We are extremely happy! We’ve owned this outlet for six years, and this is our first ever division one winning ticket we’ve sold,” they said.

“Everybody is always asking ‘Have you sold a winning ticket? Is this a lucky outlet? Has there been any winners? And so on. Now we can finally say yes!

“We’re hoping this is the start of a winning streak for us. It’s such a huge milestone and we’re so glad the winner has now come forward.

“He’s a regular and had no clue that he’d won. He was in total shock and just kept saying ‘No, you're joking!’.

Congratulations to him and thank you to everyone for supporting our newsagency!”

The winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 4595 on 2 August 2025 were 24, 40, 42, 21, 45 and 1 while the supplementary numbers were 16 and 9.

Across Australia, there were seven division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 4595  – two each in New South Wales and Western Australia, and one each in Queensland, Vicotria, and Tasmania.

The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 301 so far in 2025, including 80 won by NSW Lotteries customers.

In FY25, Saturday Lotto created 165 millionaires across Australia.

During this time, there were 341 division one winning Saturday Lotto entries across Australia that collectively won more than $420 million.
