A Nagambie pensioner has confessed he nearly fell off his chair in shock after discovering he scored a division one prize worth over $618,000 in the weekend’s TattsLotto draw.

The Victorian man held one of the seven division one winning entries nationally in TattsLotto draw 4039, drawn Saturday 4 April 2020 and takes home a division one prize of $613,016.67.

As well as winning the coveted division one prize, the thrilled man also scored division three 6 times, bolstering his total prize to $618,175.17.

Sharing his excitement with an official from the Lott this morning, the man recounted how he discovered the news.

“I checked my ticket on the app yesterday afternoon and when I saw I had all six numbers I nearly fell of my chair!” he laughed.

“I certainly won’t say no to that amount of money.

“I’ve been playing the same numbers for about 30 years.

“They aren’t birthdays or anniversaries or anything like that. I just put all the numbers in a hat one day and pulled them out.

“I’ve been playing them ever since. The most I’ve ever won is $50. Nothing like this!”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his division one prize, the thrilled man revealed he’d be shelving celebrations until a later date.

“I don’t think I’ll do any celebrating until I see it for myself in my bank account,” he confessed.

“After that, I’ll get some advice on how best to spend it and save it, but I’d like to buy myself a brand new car.

“There are a few things around the house that need doing too so I’ll use it for that too.”

The regular player, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning marked system 7 entry at Nagambie Newsagency, 310 High Street, Nagambie.

Nagambie Newsagency owner Anthony Cummins said the win had created a happy buzz in the local community.

“We are just rapt to have sold a division one winning entry!” he exclaimed.

“These are tough times, so it has been great for our small town to celebrate a win.

“Our small town is known for its community spirit so it’s fantastic to be sharing such good news.

“We are so pleased it has gone to a local.

“This is the first division one winning entry we’ve sold in 14 years, so we are pretty excited.

“It’s all we can talk about with our customers!

“Congratulations to our winner! We wish him all the best!”
