There are no Monday blues for an Indooroopilly man today after discovering he is now a multi-millionaire from the weekend’s Saturday Gold Lotto $20 Million Superdraw.
The Brisbane professional held one of seven division one winning entries across Australia in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3863 on 28 July 2018. Each entry won the division one prize of $2,857,142.86.
When a Golden Casket official made contact with the winner this morning, the man in his 40s confessed he had been waiting by the phone since discovering his good fortune yesterday morning.
“I had a look yesterday! Yeah, I was very surprised when I saw how much it was,” he exclaimed.
“I just remembered yesterday that I had a ticket. It was something I’d forgotten about, but I thought ‘oh, let’s have a quick look’.
“At first, I saw I’d won division six and I thought ‘oh good I’ve nearly paid for my ticket’. Then I scrolled down a bit further and I was like ‘Oh-oh, wow. Okay, what do I do now?’.
“I took a few deep breaths and then I told my wife and we were both very excited.
“If you didn’t call me this morning I was going to call you!”
With the win still sinking in, the Indooroopilly man confessed he had yet to decide how to use his multi-million-dollar Gold Lotto windfall.
He did share that he would continue to head off to work today, but might find it difficult to concentrate.
“I haven’t thought it all through yet. There’s all the things I’ve dreamt about doing if I ever won, but now it’s real I’m going to sit down and think about it properly,” he said.
“I’ll go to work as normal until I decide what to do.”
The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning 24-game QuickPick entry online at thelott.com – Australia’s official lotteries.
So far this calendar year, Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto and Saturday Gold Lotto have created 110 millionaires across Australia.
The six winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3863 on Saturday 28 July 2018 were 37, 21, 29, 27, 40 and 31. The supplementary numbers were 6 and 11.
Across Australia there were seven division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3863 – three each from Queensland and New South Wales, and one from Victoria.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 228 so far this calendar year, including 54 won by Golden Casket customers.
