A Norman Park man is running late to work this morning as he grapples with the news he’s woken up a newly-minted millionaire.
The Brisbane resident held the only division one winning entry nationally in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 3866, drawn Monday 6 May 2019. It scored the guaranteed division one prize of $1,000,000.
Confirming his prize with a Golden Casket official this morning, the winner revealed he’d had a sleepless night after discovering the news just before bed.
“Oh my god. Thank you very much,” he said.
“It’s not sinking in. I’m blown away.
“It’s just amazing. I can’t believe it!
“I checked my ticket online last night and realised I’d won. I really didn’t believe it!
“I had virtually no sleep just thinking about the win and what I could do with $1 million.
“I’m hoping the news will start to sink in soon!”
The tired, but happy millionaire thanked a last-minute decision for his life-changing prize.
“I don’t play regularly but last night I decided to buy a ticket last-minute,” he explained.
“I don’t know why but I am so glad I did.
“It’s going to relieve so much financial pressue and just make my life so much easier.
“I’m going to pay off my mortgage and just relax!
“I’ll keep working but I’ll slow down a little bit.
“I’m going into work now, I’m running a bit late at the moment but it’s hard to care when I’ve just won $1 million!”
The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning 12-game QuickPick entry online at thelott.com – Australia’s official lotteries.
In 2018, Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto and Saturday Gold Lotto created 194 millionaires across Australia.
The winning numbers in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 3866 on Monday 6 May 2019 were 1, 30, 21, 36, 20 and 41, while the supplementary numbers were 32 and 8.
Across Australia, there was only one division one winning entry in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 3866.
