A newly retired North Shore dad has finally answered his phone to hear the news he’s suddenly a millionaire after scoring division one in Wednesday’s Lotto draw.

The Sydney man held one of the two division one winning entries nationally in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 3915, on Wednesday 23 October 2019, with each entry taking home a division one prize of $1,000,000.

After a day of unsuccessful attempts, a NSW Lotteries official got hold of the winner this morning to break the life-changing news.

“You’re kidding?” he laughed.

“Wow I better check that ticket. I can’t believe this.

“That’s terrific!

“Thank you so much. I think it’s going to take a little while for this news sink in.

“My wife is going to be so excited. This is just great!”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his million-dollar prize, the winner revealed it had come at a great time in his life.

“I’ve only just retired so this is absolutely perfect,” he explained.

“This will certainly be such a bonus to go travelling with. Maybe we’ll be able to travel first class or business class.

“We’ve also got children who we will be able to help out.

“We’ll definitely be celebrating this weekend!”

The happy man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning marked System 7 entry at Westleigh Newsagency, Shop 18 & 19, Westleigh Centre, 4-8 Eucalyptus Drive, Westleigh.

Westleigh Newsagency owner Clare Holliday said she was thrilled to hear one of her local customers had claimed the prize.

“This is the first division one winning entry we’ve sold since opening the store so we are very excited,” she said.

“We’re very pleased to hear it’s gone to a local.

“We wish him all the very best and hope he enjoys his prize with his family and friends.”
