The week is off to a winning start for 20 Novocastrians after their syndicate entry scored division one in the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw.
The syndicate entry was one of the 27 division one winning entries across Australia in Saturday Lotto’s $20 Million Superdraw, draw 4061 on 20 June 2020. Each entry won a division one prize of $740,740.75.
In addition to division one, the syndicate’s System 10 QuickPick entry also won division two 6 times, division three 18 times, division four 90 times and division five 60 times, bolstering the syndicate’s total win to $794,465.65.
Each of the 20 members of the winning syndicate receives a share worth $39,728.95.
The syndicate was sold at Marketown Newsagency, Shop 8, Marketown Shopping Centre, 23 Steel Street, Newscastle West.
Marketown Newsagency team member Mark McNally said he was thrilled to see the win shared among so many local and regular customers.
“It’s pretty incredible!” he said.
“We set this syndicate up last week. We called it Bazillions2 after our other syndicate, Bazillions1, sold out!
“Just goes to show, syndicates can be the way to go if you’re happy to share your prize.
“We do get quite a few people who say they don’t mind sharing and I tell them about the syndicates. ‘Go for your life’, that’s what I always say.
“We’ve already had one guy come in to discover his win. As he was walking out, he saw a car on the street and joked ‘that’s going to be my new car!’
“Everyone will really enjoy their prize, I’m sure.”
The win was a welcome surprise for the local store and the Marketown Newsagency team are eager to pass on the good news to their customers.
“Come in store to check your tickets!” Mr McNally said.
“It’s so great getting to tell our customers in person they’ve had a win.
“That moment when you scan their ticket, you pause for a sec’ before you crack a grin and tell them the news — there’s nothing better!
“Congrats to everyone! We’re going to enjoy sharing the happy news.”
NSW Lotteries spokesperson Matt Hart said more than half of the syndicate members held unregistered entries and might still be unaware of their good fortune.
“This syndicate’s entry was one of the five New South Wales entries to take home that coveted division one prize in the weekend’s Saturday Lotto $20 Million Superdraw,” he said.
“What a great way to start the week knowing your part of a winning group.
“While we’ll be reaching out to those syndicate members who registered their tickets to their NSW Players Club cards, there are many syndicate members who have unregistered entries and may not yet know they’re part of this winning group.
“If you purchased a share in a syndicate for the recent Saturday Lotto draw, today’s the day to check it! If you discover you’re holding a winning share, call NSW Lotteries on 131 868 to start the prize claim process!”
