An Oatley dad has kicked off the week in extraordinary fashion, scoring $2 million in the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw after choosing his numbers based purely on his mood.
The Sydney resident held one of the five division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Lotto draw 4677 on Saturday 16 May 2026. Each division one winning entry pocketed $2 million.
In addition to division one, the winning man also scored division three 12 times and division four 15 times bolstering his total treasure to $2,011,383.05.
When an official from The Lott called the unsuspecting man, he was initially sceptical but came around when he saw his prize in The Lott app.
“Thank you! That’s so exciting!” he exclaimed.
“I was a bit cautious at first. I was thinking, ‘How do I know this is real?’ but now I can see it in my app, this is incredible.
“I’ve probably been playing for 40 years. I don’t always choose the same numbers. I just pick them based on my mood.”
When asked how he planned to use his newfound fortune, the winning man was too stunned to make any immediate decisions.
“I’ll have a think about it because I’m still in shock,” he laughed.
“I’ll go out to dinner to celebrate with my daughter. We’ll keep it simple.”
His winning System 8 entry was purchased via The Lott app – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
The winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 4677 on 16 May 2026 were 32, 10, 3, 39, 33 and 23, while the supplementary numbers were 42 and 37.
Across Australia, there was five division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 4677 – three in Queensland and one each in New South Wales and Victoria.
