An Ottoway man is looking forward to a long-overdue family reunion after scoring a $50,000 Keno Spot 8 prize in draw 25250724, drawn 26 July 2019.

Speaking to a SA Lotteries official this afternoon to claim his prize, the happy winner revealed despite being a regular Keno player he never expected the windfall.

“I was out at the tavern and had a bit of time to spare so I decided to play a bit of Keno,” he explained.

“I couldn’t believe it when I won!”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his Keno Spot 8 prize the winner immediately revealed his intentions to reunite his family.

“I chatted it over with my girlfriend and we decided we wanted to use it to fly all of our family to one place for a reunion,” he said.

“It will be great to see everyone as we are spread all over the globe.”

The happy winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his Keno Spot 8 entry at Grand Junction Tavern, 174 Grand Junction Road, Pennington.

Grand Junction Tavern venue manager Dillon Forrest said he was thrilled a regular patron had scored such a massive prize.

“I didn’t know we had sold a Keno Spot 8 until another one of our regular customers came up and told me,” he explained.

“It was such a surprise! So we told all of our customers we had sold one and encouraged them all to check their tickets.

“Lucky for us the customer was still in the venue so we got to break the exciting news to him.

“He was over-the-moon and was very excited. We were all very excited and happy to be celebrating with him.

“We wish him all the best with his win!”

In the 12 months to 30 June 2018, there were 26 Keno Spot 8, 9 and 10 winners across South Australia who landed more than $5.026 million.  Spot 10 was won twice during this time – a prize of more than $1.474 million won in Mawson Lakes in April 2018, and a prize of more than $1.7 million won in Mansfield Park in October 2018.

Keno is a game whereby 20 numbers are randomly generated from a possible 80. To win a Keno Spot 8 prize, a player must match all eight of the numbers selected on their ticket against the 20 numbers drawn.
