A Tewantin couple are over the moon after hearing the news they’re the latest Saturday Gold Lotto division one winners and the state’s newest millionaires.
The shocked grandparents held one of the four division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3899, drawn Saturday 1 December 2018. Each winning entry took home a division one prize of $1,004,705.27.
A Golden Casket official had the pleasure of breaking the news to the couple this morning, however the husband initially couldn’t quite put his excitement into words.
“Good heavens,” he finally rejoiced.
“Goodness gracious me.
“That’s unbelievable.
“I can’t scratch myself, that’s absolutely amazing!”
As the life-changing news sunk in, the couple revealed they were passionate volunteers and planned to put some of the prize towards causes close to their hearts.
“We’ve been dedicated to welfare work for years, looking after the people we care so much about will be a whole lot easier now,” he shared.
“You’ve made my dreams come true!
“I never imagined this would happen to us.”
While the couple was still recovering from the shock of their win, the regular players said they would also use their windfall to do some home renos.
“We do have a lot of work to do around the house, so we will get a few contractors around here, instead of me having to do all the work” he laughed.
“It will be a different Christmas this year, that’s for sure.
“I just can’t believe it.
“You’ve taken my breath away.”
The winning entry was purchased from Tewantin Newsagency, 107 Poinciana Avenue, Tewantin.
Tewantin Newsagency owner Daniel Rudledge said he and his team were “extremely excited” for their winning customer.
“This is the third division one winning entry we’ve sold in the 13 years we’ve been here. We’ve decorated the shop with balloons, posters and streamers to celebrate,” he said.
“We are just so happy for them! What a nice, early Christmas present!
“We last sold a division one winning entry almost a year ago to the day – on 16 December 2017. So that means we’ve sold two in 12 months and December seems to be our lucky month!”

Golden Casket officials are yet to hear from a player who held the only winning entry in last week’s Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto.
The unsuspecting person won the guaranteed division one prize of $1 million in Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw 3821, drawn Wednesday 28 November 2018.
The winning entry was purchased at Clew’s Newsagency, 99 Archer Street, Woodford.
Golden Casket spokesperson Lauren Cooney said the division one winning entry was not registered to a Winners Circle card, so the identity of the winner was a true mystery.
“If you bought a ticket in last week’s Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto draw and still haven’t checked your entry, we promise it could be absolutely worthwhile to head to your closest outlet and have your ticket scanned.” she said.
So far this calendar year, Monday & Wednesday Gold Lotto and Saturday Gold Lotto have created 169 millionaires across Australia.
The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3899 on Saturday 1 December 2018 were 24, 25, 38, 27, 31 and 5, while the supplementary numbers were 20 and 18.
Across Australia, there were four division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 3899 – two in Queensland and one each in South Australia and Western Australia.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 162 so far this financial year, including 40 won by Golden Casket customers.
In the 12 months to 30 June 2018, there were 290 division one winning Saturday Gold Lotto entries across the Lott’s jurisdictions, which collectively won more than $302.7 million.
