Powerball has reached a massive $50 million for next Thursday’s draw after the winning numbers eluded Australian lottery players again tonight.
No entry held all seven winning numbers and the all-important Powerball number needed to deliver division one and prompt screams of delight from a winner.
Although the division one prize was not snagged tonight, a total of 1,077,572 prizes worth more than $20.14 million were won in divisions two to nine. This included three division two winners, who were just one number shy of a multi-million-dollar win, but each take home $185,924.20.
Next week’s $50 million Powerball draw is the biggest Australian lottery jackpot so far in 2021 and the first time the game has offered this amount since July 2020.
The Lott spokesperson Bronwyn Spencer said the last time someone scored a $50 million Powerball jackpot was in June 2018, when a young Canberra man took out the entire division one prize pool.
“If one person scores next Thursday’s entire jackpot they will be the first to win that exact amount in nearly three years!” she exclaimed.
“When the Canberra man discovered the news, he said he was completely dumbfounded, and he couldn’t wipe the smile off his face.
“I’m sure that if someone scores the $50 million Powerball jackpot up for grabs next week they will be in the exact same situation – it’s sure to put a smile on anyone’s face!
“In 2020 we crowned 14 Powerball division one winners who took home more than $470 million in prize money.
“2021 is already shaping up to be a winning year for Powerball players with two division one winners sharing in a $20 million jackpot already this year.
“Make sure you get an entry for your chance to become our third division one winner for Powerball this year!”
The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1291 on Thursday 11 February 2021 were 20, 32, 26, 29, 16, 7 and 1. The all-important Powerball number was 14.
The $50 million Powerball draw 1291 will take place on Thursday 18 February 2020.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 275 so far this financial year.
In 2020, 14 Powerball division one winners across Australia pocketed more than $470.1 million in prize money.
In 2020, Powerball twice offered an $80 million jackpot – the biggest prize offered by any Australian lottery game during the year.
Of the 14 Powerball division one winning entries in 2020, six landed in Queensland, five in New South Wales and three in Victoria.
