While a Powerball division one win eluded Australian lottery players tonight, the stage is now set for a potentially record-breaking $80 million draw next Thursday.

Tonight, for the seventh Powerball draw in a row, no one entry held all the seven winning numbers and the all-important Powerball number needed to deliver division one.

While no entries scored the $60 million division one prize tonight, a total of 1,183,844 prizes worth more than $21.35 million were won in divisions two to nine.  This included 9 division two winners who each took home $65,674.75.

Next week’s $80 million Powerball draw is only the third time in the game’s 25-year history that a jackpot of this size has been up for grabs.

If one or more entries have all the numbers to take home next week’s jackpot, it will only the second time an $80 million Powerball division one prize has been won.

The Lott spokesperson Bronwyn Spencer said the last time Powerball paid out $80 million, it changed the lives of two Australians forever.

“The only time Powerball players scored division one in an $80 million draw was in 2009 when two players, a Melbourne man and a woman from Sydney, walked away with $40 million each,” she said.

“Despite scoring $40 million in Powerball prize money, the Melbourne man declared he was going to continue to work. Meanwhile, the Sydney woman planned to invest her windfall and donate to charities close to her heart.

“For the past 10 years, these winners have been able to play by their own rules and live a life of adventure, generosity, relaxation and more!

“With a mind-blowing $80 million on offer next Thursday, it will be interesting to see if one person takes it all and in doing so sets a new Powerball record for the game’s second-biggest individual division one prize.

“The only way to find out is to get an entry. We encourage all players to get in early, avoid the rush and grab their ticket for a chance to become a multi-millionaire!”

In the 12 months ending 2018, there were 16 Powerball division one winning entries nationally that collectively took home $367 million. The biggest individual Powerball prize won during 2018 was $60 million, won in November by a man from Burleigh Heads.

The numbers drawn tonight in Powerball draw 1207 on Thursday 4 July 2019 were 2, 21, 15, 20, 28, 27 and 22and the Powerball was number 3.

The $80 million Powerball draw 1208 will take place on Thursday 11 July 2019.
