While Aussies have begun filing their tax returns, many are dreaming of what the new financial year could hold if their bank balance ballooned by $60 million after this Thursday’s Powerball draw.
After six weeks without a division one winner, Australia’s biggest jackpotting game is offering $60 million in tomorrow night’s draw. It’s the highest division one prize pool Powerball has offered in more than five months.
In the 12 months to 30 June 2019, 10 Powerball division one winners across Australia pocketed more than $398.5 million in prize money. This included one Sydney woman who in January scored a Powerball payday of more than $107 million – Australia’s biggest ever individual lottery prize.
While Powerball is a random game of chance and every number has an equal chance of being drawn, the Lott has crunched the numbers to reveal the game’s most frequently and infrequently drawn numbers during the past 15 months.
For the main barrel, where seven winning numbers are drawn from 1 to 35, the ‘hot’ winning numbers are 17 and 2, while the ‘cold’ winning numbers are 12 and 1.
For the separate Powerball barrel, where a single Powerball number is drawn from 1 to 20, the ‘hot’ Powerball numbers are 3 and 19, while the ‘cold’ Powerball number is 1, which hasn’t made a single appearance during this time.
The Lott spokesperson Bronwyn Spencer said Powerball’s hot numbers had lived up to their reputation the last time the game saw a $60 million division one winner.
“The last time we saw Powerball crown a $60 million winner was in November 2018, when a Burleigh Heads man scored the massive prize,” she said.
“Interestingly, the ‘hot’ Powerball number 17 was one of the seven winning numbers that helped him claim his multi-million dollar prize.
“Now that the ‘hot’ and ‘cold’ numbers have been revealed, Powerball players need to decide if this might impact their entry into this week’s draw.
“Do you choose hot numbers in the hope they live up to their reputation of being most frequently drawn, or do you opt for the cold numbers believing they’re now more likely to be drawn?
“Either way, our best tip is to make sure you get in early as it is sure to be a busy day in store and online before the draw close!”
Ms Spencer said up to one-in-four Australian adults were expected to have an entry in this week’s $60 million Powerball draw.
“As people are busy collecting their receipts and filing their tax returns for last financial year, many are casting their eyes towards what the new financial year might look like if they took home a life-changing $60 million!” she exclaimed.
“Would you finally retire, buy that dream home or upgrade the car? Or would you finally book that first-class ticket for a round-the-world odyssey or give generously to your favourite charity?
“There really is no limit to how you could play by your own rules with $60 million in your bank account!”
Powerball draw 1207 closes at 7:30pm AEST on Thursday 4 July 2019.
