A Surat retiree is happily celebrating today and dreaming of how she’ll enjoy a spare $10,000 after scratching one of the top prizes on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
The winning $1 Cactus Cash ticket was purchased at Surat Post & News, 5 Charlotte Street, Surat.
Sharing her excitement with a Golden Casket official today, the woman revealed she’s always loved playing Instant Scratch-Its tickets.
“I still can’t get over it!” she laughed.
“I scratched the ticket on Thursday and when I realised I had all the winning symbols I was in complete shock.
“I was shaking and everything! I couldn’t believe it.
“Never in my life have I ever won anything like this!
“I wasted no time at all. As soon as I scratched it, I went straight to the post office to send it off to you.
“There was no way I was holding on to that valuable ticket.”
The winner revealed she’d need some time to think about how she’d enjoy her instant windfall.
“I’ll keep it in the bank for a little while,” she said.
“We will probably go on a holiday. We’d love to explore more of outback Queensland.”
Surat Post & News employee Helen Chapman said it was the first time the outlet had sold a top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
“We’re super excited about selling this winning ticket,” she exclaimed.
“Our lovely regular customer came in just after she scratched it and she was thrilled.
“It’s great to see this prize go to someone in the community.”
In 2018, 155 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners collectively took home more than $14.26 million.
During this same time, 25,716,051 winners pocketed more than $205.8 million across all Instant Scratch-Its prize tiers.
