Australians dreaming of playing by their own rules forever will be eagerly counting down to next Thursday’s $100 million Powerball draw (Thursday 20 October 2022).

The Powerball jackpot has surged to $100 million for next week’s draw after there were no division one winners in tonight’s draw.

While no one took home the coveted jackpot prize, there were a total of 1,693,915 prizes worth more than $31.9 million won in divisions two to nine in tonight’s Powerball draw. Among those winners were eight division two winners who each took home a $110,500.85 prize.

Next week’s Powerball draw, draw 1379 on Thursday 20 October 2022, offers the second largest jackpot offered by any Australian lottery game so far this year.

It’s also the first time Powerball has offered a $100 million jackpot in 2022 and only the fourth time in Powerball’s 26-year history the jackpot has climbed this high.

Up to half of Australia’s adults are expected to have an entry into the draw with the hopes of becoming the nation’s newest multi-millionaire.

The Lott spokesperson James Eddy said if just one player scored the entire $100 million jackpot next Thursday night, they would immediately become Australia’s second biggest lottery winner.

“As this is the largest lottery jackpot we’ve seen in Australia since February this year, we’re expecting it to be busy in-store and online in the lead-up to next Thursday’s draw,” he said.

“We’re sure most Powerball players are already dreaming about what they’d do if they won a slice of this massive jackpot next week. The holiday of a lifetime, immediate retirement, your perfect home and all your other dreams could be a reality.

“Powerball has been on a winning streak this year, with 15 Powerball division one winning entries across Australia so far in 2022 collectively taking home more than $440 million. In fact, we’ve already seen more Powerball division one wins so far in 2022 than there were during 2019, 2020 or 2021.”

To ensure you’re in with a chance to win the $100 million jackpot, Mr Eddy reminded players to purchase an entry either in-store, online at thelott.com or via the app or in-store before 7.30pm AEST on Thursday 20 October 2022.

He also encouraged players to register their entry to a player card or online account.

“If you win the jackpot, you’ll want to know immediately. By registering your entry, we’ll be able to reach out to you straight after the draw to confirm the life-changing news,” he said.

The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1378 were 31, 35, 16, 13, 25, 18, 1 and the Powerball number was 2.
