With up to one-in-six Aussie adults expected to have an entry into tomorrow night’s $60 million Powerball draw, the numbers that have rolled out of the barrel the most have been revealed.
So far this year, Powerball has crowned 18 multi-millionaires from nine division one winning entries that scored more than $339.7 million in prize money.
New South Wales players have had the most Powerball success in 2021, holding six division one winning entries, while Queensland players have had the remaining three.
The Lott spokesperson Matt Hart said this week’s $60 million Powerball jackpot was the second biggest offer by any Australian lottery game so far this year.
“The $80 million Powerball prize offered in April, and subsequently won by two people, remains the biggest Australian lottery draw so far in 2021,” he said.
“However, this is the second time we’ve seen a $60 million Powerball draw this year. The first one was held just last month, and, on that occasion, the massive jackpot was won by 10 members of a Townsville syndicate who scored $6 million each.”
Mr Hart said those marking their Powerball entries might consider how they interpret the game’s ‘hot’ and ‘cold’ numbers.
“While Powerball is a game of chance, and every number has an equal chance of being drawn, some numbers have been drawn more often than others,” he shared.
“But will these ‘hot’ numbers make an appearance this week, or is it time for the ‘cold’ numbers to shine?”
From Powerball’s main barrel, where seven winning numbers are drawn from 35, the ‘hot’ number is 17, having been drawn 49 times during the past three years. (Table 1)

For the separate Powerball barrel, where a single Powerball number between one and 20 is drawn, there are two numbers that have been drawn more than any other during the past three years (Table 3).

No matter what type of entry players chose, Mr Hart said it was important they had an entry before the draw’s close at 7.30pm AEST on Thursday if they wanted a chance to win $60 million.
“As you can imagine, a prize of this size attracts a lot of interest so we’re expecting up to one-in-six Aussie adults to have an entry,” he explained.
“I’ll be standing by to reach out to any division one winners immediately after the draw on Thursday night so make sure you register your entry to a player card or online account.”
The $60 million Powerball draw 1316 will take place on Thursday 5 August 2021.
