New Australian lottery records could be set tonight as Powerball serves up a mind-blowing $110 million prize.

The $110 million jackpot is the biggest prize ever offered by an Australian lottery game.

It comes after no players held a division one winning entry in last week’s Powerball draw, prompting the game to jackpot for the eighth consecutive week.

The Lott spokesperson Bronwyn Spencer said not only did tonight’s Powerball draw serve up the nation’s biggest ever division one prize, but it also had the potential to smash another record.

“If one single entry takes home the entire $110 million jackpot tonight, it will be the biggest Australian lottery prize ever won by a single entry,” she explained.

“The current record is held by a Sydney health worker who scored just over $107 million in January this year. We broke the staggering news to her minutes after the winning numbers were drawn. Will we be doing the same tonight?”

With $110 million up for grabs, Ms Spencer said up to one-in-three Australian adults were expected to have an entry into tonight’s Powerball draw.

“Today is the day when we find out if someone becomes Australia’s newest Powerball multi-millionaire,” she said.

“We are in unchartered territory with this $110 million draw, but if previous big jackpots are anything to go by, today we’re expecting queues out the door at lottery outlets and a surge in online entries.

“In last week’s draw, the busiest time for people grabbing an entry from the Lott outlets and online was at 6.44pm when more than 4,700 entries were sold in 60 seconds. Given the draw closes at 7.30pm, it seems many were leaving it to the final minutes.

“We encourage customers to not only get in early to purchase their entries but also register their entries to a player card so we can contact them directly after the draw with some incredible news!

“If we a have a division one winner tonight, we’ll be wanting to let them know straight after the draw. They may not need to head into work tomorrow or ever again!”

In the 12 months to 30 June 2019, 10 Powerball division one winners across Australia pocketed $398,575,649.10 in prize money.

Powerball draw 1209 closes at 7:30pm AEST on Thursday 18 July 2019.

Tickets can be purchased at any licensed lottery outlet, online from thelott.com or via the Lott mobile app.

The Lott’s division one winning tally across all Australian lottery games has now reached 193 so far this year.

The sign of Australia’s Official Lotteries, the Lott operates and markets Australia’s leading lottery games customers know and love creating everyday winners, winning every day.

In the 12 months to 30 June 2018, 74 million winners took home a total of $2.7 billion in prize money from their favourite games which include Saturday Lotto, Monday and Wednesday Lotto, Powerball, Oz Lotto, Set for Life, Lucky Lotteries, Keno and Instant Scratch-Its.
