A Redbank mum has admitted she ‘jumped up and down and couldn’t stop laughing’ when she discovered she had won $25,000 on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket given to her for Christmas.

The top prize winning $2 Christmas Wishes ticket was purchased at Collingwood Park Newsagency, Shop 110, Level 1, Redbank Plaza Shopping Centre, 1 Collingwood Drive, Redbank.

Confirming her windfall with an official from The Lott this morning, the Ipswich woman said she was still on cloud nine.

“My husband bought the ticket as a gift for me for Christmas,” she explained.

“I couldn’t believe it when I scratched it! I thought I was seeing things.

“I got my family to check it for me and make sure it was real.

“It was marvellous!

“We were jumping up and down and we couldn’t stop laughing.

“It’s not something that happens every day, so it was a really wonderful moment.

“We celebrated by having an extra fun Christmas! It was already a great day and that just made it even better.

“It still feels quite surreal now. It’s amazing.”

When asked how she planned to enjoy her prize, the overjoyed woman said as soon as the money was in her bank account, she’d be planning a holiday.

“We are going to keep most of it in the bank for a few things in the future,” she shared.

“Although I would love to go on a bit of a holiday soon, so we will use the prize for that.”

Collingwood Park Newsagency owner Michele Yim said the outlet was celebrating selling a top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket.

“It’s so exciting,” she shared.

“I remember last year we sold a top prize at Christmas as well. It feels like every year we sell someone a top prize Instant Scratch-Its ticket at Christmas.

“We’ve been quite lucky selling top prize winning scratchies lately, so I hope this winning streak continues.

“We’d love to send our congratulations to our winner. We wish her all the best and hope she enjoys her winnings.”

In 2020, there were 177 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across The Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $16 million in top prizes.

During this same time, Instant Scratch-Its players enjoyed more than 32.3 million wins across all prize tiers worth more than $281.17 million. This equates to more than three-quarters of a million dollars won on Instant Scratch-Its every day.
