A Redcliffe couple who headed out for breakfast this morning never expected to return home $2 million richer, but were happily surprised when they checked their Gold Lotto ticket and discovered they were division one winners.

The Moreton Bay region players held one of the 10 division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Gold Lotto’s $20 Million Superdraw, draw 4099, drawn Saturday 31 October 2020. Each entry won a division one prize of $2 million.

The ticket was unregistered, so officials from The Lott had no way of contacting the winners and had to wait for them to come forward to claim their prize.

Today, the overjoyed couple ducked into their local outlet and discovered they were now multi-millionaires.

“We are blown away,” the winning woman laughed.

“You buy tickets hoping to win, but you never actually think it’s going to happen.

“When Jodie at the outlet told us we’d won $2 million, we didn’t believe it.

“We thought she was playing a joke on us.

“But she just kept saying it was real!

“Even though we’re talking to you about the win right now, it still doesn’t feel real.

“We are just so overwhelmed. I just can’t believe this.

“This is the best day of our lives!”

When asked how they planned to enjoy their prize, the winning couple said they’d be spending the day making plans.

“I am heading straight to work now, and I am quitting,” the man laughed.

“I can’t wait! I’m retiring!”

“I want to take some time to plan what else we will do with the prize,” the woman admitted.

“I don’t want to make any rash decisions.

“I’d like to invest some, and we will help out our family.

“We’d like to do some travelling too. We want to go to Egypt when we can travel overseas again, but it would be nice to do some trips around Australia in the  meantime.”

The multi-million-dollar winning entry was purchased at Redcliffe Discount Drug Store, 65 Redcliffe Parade, Redcliffe.

Redcliffe Discount Drug Store manager Jodie Schuler said she was thrilled to have delivered the winning news to her customers.

“We are stoked,” she said.

“I’ve had a sleepless week waiting for the winner to come forward.

“Every time I checked a ticket, I was hoping it was the winner.

“I am so glad they’ve now discovered this exciting news!

“I am so happy for them. I can’t even put into words how excited I am for them.

“I have been waiting for years to be able to share in the winning moment, and now I have!

“It’s priceless for me. I don’t know how I’d top this feeling!”

Last financial year, Saturday Gold Lotto created 127 millionaires across Australia.

The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4099 on Saturday 31 October 2020 were 19, 4, 26, 27, 34 and 13, while the supplementary numbers were 6 and 15.

Across Australia, there were 10 division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4099 – four from New South Wales, three from Queensland, two from Victoria, and one from Western Australia.

The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 143 so far this financial year, including 34 won by Golden Casket customers.
