Did you have a registered entry in last night’s Powerball draw and have missed a few phone calls? If so, it might be time to answer your phone because you could be $40 million richer!
The New South Wales player held one of the two division one winning entries in Powerball draw 1301 on Thursday 22 April 2021.
While the winning entry was registered to a player card, officials from The Lott have been unable to reach the winner and are eagerly waiting for them to answer their phone.
The elusive winner purchased their entry from Dublin Street Newsagency, Shop 2 66 Dublin Street, Smithfield.
Dublin Street Newsagency owner Thuy Nguyen said he was keen to unite his winner with their multi-million-dollar prize.
“Oh my gosh, that is so exciting,” he said happily.
“This is the first time we’ve ever sold a division one winning entry and it’s a $40 million prize, so it’s better than we could’ve imagined!
“We’ve been waiting to make one of our customers a division one winner and it’s great we now have.
“Hopefully our winner discovers this exciting news soon so they can head into the weekend as a multi-millionaire.”
The Lott spokesperson Ally Ramsamy said that if the unsuspecting winner answered their phone today, they could spend the weekend celebrating.
“It’s likely this winner is going about their day as normal, with no idea they’ve just won $40 million!” she explained.
“We’re urging all players who purchased a Powerball ticket from Dublin Street Newsagency in Smithfield to check their tickets today!
“Make sure you check your ticket, which could be in your wallet, handbag, on the fridge door or in your car glovebox, because the winner could be you and you could be planning what to do with your prize!
“If you discover you are holding the winning ticket contact The Lott on 131 868 to begin the process of claiming your prize.”
Campbelltown winner finally accepts multi-million-dollar news
A Campbelltown woman is finally coming to terms with the news she’s now $40 million richer and has admitted her grandson will forever be her favourite after predicting she’d win.
“I didn’t sleep at all last night,” the winning grandmother admitted.
“This morning, I still couldn’t believe I’d won but then when I was watching the news, I saw all of these stories about a Campbelltown retiree winning Powerball and I started to think that maybe it could be real!
“It’s funny because the media has been saying that my grandson must be my favourite now because he told me I was going to win, and I can tell you, he definitely is!
“Although it’s starting to sink in, I still can’t believe that my life has suddenly changed overnight!
“This is amazing, thank you so much. I am a multi-millionaire! How strange.”
She purchased her winning PowerHit entry from Leppington Newsagency, Shop 6, 1469 Camden Valley Way, Leppington.
In addition to the two division one prizes of $40 million in Powerball’s draw, there were also 2,604,499 prizes won in divisions two to nine worth more than $48.71 million.
