A Riverwood man went to buy a few items from the shops this afternoon – little did he know he’d be returning home as a multi-millionaire!

The southern Sydney resident held the winning entry in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 10234, drawn on Monday 2 July 2018, won the $3.88 million Jackpot prize.

While the draw was held more than three weeks ago, the man had been oblivious to the fact he had won the massive prize, which up until now was Australia’s largest unclaimed lottery prize.

“Thank you! It’s very difficult to believe, mate. It’s very difficult to believe that,” he exclaimed when a NSW Lotteries official confirmed his Lucky Lotteries windfall.

“I’ve just been to the shops and I thought I’d go and check my tickets in my wallet as I hadn’t done that in a while.

“When I checked this ticket, the guy behind the counter said ‘you are the lucky winner!’.

“Mate, it’s amazing.”

While he normally registers his Lucky Lotteries entries to a NSW Players Club card, the overwhelmed winner confessed he forgot when he bought this ticket – meaning NSW Lotteries had no way to contact him about his life-changing win.

“I was worried because when I purchased the last few tickets I didn’t have my card with me. I had been thinking if I had won something you wouldn’t know where to send it.

“I will make sure I register all my tickets now.”

With his bank balance about to balloon by more than $3.88 million, the family man shared he had yet to decide exactly how he would use his new multi-million dollar status.

But he said he looked forward to treating his family and possibly enjoying some overseas travel.

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning entry of four consecutive numbers at Riverwood Newsagency, 335 Belmore Road, Riverwood.

Riverwood Newsagency owner John Zhang said he was relieved the winner had finally been united with the massive Lucky Lotteries prize.

“We’ve found him! Finally!” he said.

“He came in to check his tickets and then I saw his ticket was the winning one! I still don’t think he believes it!

“We’ve had so many people coming in to check their tickets during the past few weeks.  Hopefully it won’t be too long until we sell another big winner.”

Last financial year, 113 Lucky Lotteries 1st Prize and Jackpot winning entries across the Lott’s jurisdictions won more than $23.57 million.  During this time, the biggest individual jackpot prize was won by a young Inner-West Sydney man, who took home $6.87 million.

The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $15.88 million for draw 1113, while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot is now $890,000 for draw 10238.

NSW Lotteries customers can purchase a single ticket number into the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot for $2.20 and the Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot for $5.50.
