A Rockhampton couple have their sights set on retirement and a few overseas adventures after realising they’d bagged more than $1 million in the weekend’s Saturday Gold Lotto draw.
The elated winners held one of the five division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4393, drawn Saturday 26 August 2023 and took home a total division one prize of $1,033,085.50.
“We were a bit slow checking our entry but when my partner decided to take a look, I just remember her suddenly not being able to speak,” the winning man laughed when an official from The Lott confirmed their windfall.
“She showed me the win and I just said, ‘no, no, no, this doesn’t happen to me’.
“Yet here we are and we’re still struggling to wrap our heads around it.
“Once we do, we can both look forward to retiring as soon as possible and focus on really enjoying our lives.
“We’d love to travel overseas and plan on seeing a number of countries we’ve never visited.
“It’s certainly going to open up a lot of doors for us that otherwise would have remained shut and we’re so grateful for that.
“You never expect something like this to happen to you so when it does it’s just incredible.
“Thank you so much.”
Their winning entry was purchased at Glenmore News¸ Shop 2, 309-315 Farm Street, North Rockhampton.
Glenmore News Manager Jane Wilkinson said the entire team were over the moon to see a couple of locals take home a division one prize.
“It’s fantastic to see some locals win a $1 million prize, it just means so much to so many people,” she said.
“One of our staff was just beside themselves when they discovered it and contacted everyone to let them know we’d sold a division one winning entry.
“We’ve got posters up and everyone is over the moon!
“Congratulations to our winners and we hope they really savour the win and enjoy the rest of their lives.”
The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4393 on 26 August 2023 were 37, 10, 18, 32, 6 and 33, while the supplementary numbers were 21 and 23.
Across Australia, there were five division one winning entries in TattsLotto draw 4393 – Two in Victoria, and one each in New South Wales, Queensland, and Western Australia.
