Six days after the draw, a Salisbury Plain family are celebrating their million-dollar discovery after checking their Monday & Wednesday X Lotto ticket and realising they scored a division one prize.
The South Australian family held one of the three division one winning entries nationally in Monday & Wednesday X Lotto draw 3935, drawn Wednesday 1 January 2020. Each entry takes home the guaranteed division one prize of $1 million.
The winning entry was not registered to an Easiplay Club Card, so SA Lotteries had no way of contacting the winners to break the life-changing news and had to wait for them to come forward to claim their prize.
Sharing her joy with a SA Lotteries official this morning to confirm the win, the family matriarch recounted the reason for the delay in coming forward to claim their prize.
“This ticket is actually a private family syndicate between me and the kids,” she explained.
“We don’t play every week. We just go in for the big draws or whenever we feel like it. It was my daughter’s suggestion to buy this ticket, so I’d completely forgot about it.
“It wasn’t until my daughter reminded me to check the ticket that I logged onto the website and checked the ticket number.
“I wasn’t expecting to discover we’d won $1 million!”
When asked how the family planned to celebrate their division one win, the loving mum said they were busy making plans.
“We are still trying to work out how we are going to spend it!” she confessed.
“We aren’t sure what we will do. Maybe a family holiday down the track.
“But for now, we’ll celebrate by going out for a nice dinner together this weekend!”
The winning entry was sold at Saints Newsagency, Shop 11, Saints Shopping Centre, 83 Saints Road, Salisbury Plain.
Saints Newsagency owner Linkin Yang said he was thrilled and excited to discover his outlet had sold a division one winning entry.
“Our store manager couldn’t stop screaming down the phone when she was trying to tell us the exciting news,” he laughed.
“We couldn’t wait to spread the news to our customers and have been telling everyone that we sold the first division one winning entry for the year.
“Our customers will be surprised but happy to know we’ve sold a major prize. They will think we are a lucky store!
“This is the first division one winning entry we’ve sold at this outlet, so we are thrilled.
“We want to wish our winners a huge congratulations from everyone at the store. We are sincerely happy for the family and we hope it is not only a good start for the year but a wonderful new chapter in their lives.
“We are so proud to sell dreams but also help make the dream come true! We hope we can sell a few more division one winning entries in the future!”

The winning numbers in Monday & Wednesday X Lotto draw 3935 on Wednesday 1 January 2020 were 23, 24, 37, 25, 20 and 43, while the supplementary numbers were 33 and 18.
Across Australia, there were three division one winning entries in Monday & Wednesday X Lotto draw 3935 – two from South Australia and one from Western Australia.
