A young Adelaide student in his 20s has declared 2020 is ‘his year’ after scoring $1 million in last night’s Monday & Wednesday X Lotto draw.

The South Australian held one of three division one winning entries nationally in Monday & Wednesday X Lotto draw 3935, drawn Wednesday 1 January 2020. They each take home the guaranteed division one prize of $1 million.

Sharing his joy with a SA Lotteries official this morning to confirm the win, the thrilled tertiary student revealed he’d had a sleepless night, but not because he had an assignment due.

“I checked my ticket on the app right after the draw,” he explained.

“Whenever I buy a ticket I always check it the night of the draw.

“I always get a little nervous when I check it because somehow, I always knew I would win one day.

“Immediately after I won, I had a beer to celebrate but didn’t do anything else.

“I think I’m just going to have to let it sink in. I’ve had a very sleepless night.

“It’s crazy to think I’ll start the year a millionaire. What a great start to the year!

“I always said this year was going to be my year, but I never thought it would happen on this scale!”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his new millionaire status, the studious bloke revealed he already had some sensible plans for his windfall.

“It’s come at a great time for my studies,” he explained.

“I’ve been given a placement but I wasn’t sure how I was going to get there because I don’t have a car.

“Now I can get a car which will make it easier for me to finish my degree.

“I won’t even get anything that big, I just need a small car for me to get around.

“The rest I’ll put into savings for the future. I might take a gap year after I finish and go on a long holiday, or I might buy a property down the track.

“But first, I’ve got to finish my degree!”

The regular player, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning entry at OTR Dernancourt, 819-821 Lower North East Road, Dernacourt.

OTR Dernancourt spokesperson Kim Wimshurst said they were thrilled one of their customers had scored a major lottery prize.

“There’s nothing more exciting for our OTR team than seeing one of our customers take home a huge prize,” she said.

“We congratulate our winner and wish them all the best on their amazing windfall.”

Search is on for second SA millionaire.

A Salisbury Plain resident or visitor is walking around a millionaire and may not know it after scoring division one in last night’s Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw.

The South Australian held one of three division one winning entries nationally in Monday & Wednesday X Lotto draw 3935, drawn Wednesday 1 January 2020. They each take home the guaranteed division one prize of $1 million.

The ticket is unregistered, so SA Lotteries officials have no way of contacting the winner with the life-changing news and have to wait for them to come forward to claim their prize

The winning entry was sold at Saints Newsagency, Shop 11, Saints Shopping Centre, 83 Saints Road, Salisbury Plain.

SA Lotteries spokesperson Bronwyn Spencer said Adelaide’s newest millionaire could be walking around with the winning ticket in their pocket and not even know it.

“It has been a winning start to the year for Adelaide lottery players!” she exclaimed.

“There are a million reasons why Monday & Wednesday X Lotto players from Adelaide should check their tickets today! Imagine how your plans for the new year may change once you discover you are now a millionaire!

“You may not think it’s possible that you could be the division one winner we’re searching for, but if you purchased an unregistered entry in last night’s Monday & Wednesday X Lotto draw that you haven’t checked yet, you’re in with a chance!

“We’re urging all Monday & Wednesday X Lotto players to check their entries as soon as possible. If you discover you are holding the division one winning ticket contact SA Lotteries on 131 868 to begin the process of claiming your prize.”

Ms Spencer also reminded players of the importance of registering their entries.

“It is really important that you register your entries to an EasiPlay card so that we can contact you directly with the good news in the case of a win!” she added.
