A Minto man is slowly coming to terms with his new millionaire status after checking his Saturday Lotto ticket to discover he’s taking home $1.8 million.
The Sydney resident held one of the 11 division one winning entries across Australia in Saturday Lotto draw 4049 on Saturday 9 May 2020. Each entry won a division one prize of $1,818,181.82.
Confirming his win with an official from the Lott this morning, the winner said he was still coming to terms with the life-changing news.
“Thank you very much,” he said.
“It’s slowly starting to sink in.
“I checked the ticket online and I didn’t believe it, so I went into the newsagency to make sure I wasn’t seeing thing.
“I just thought ‘holy crap’!
“I never thought something like this would happen to me! You dream of this day and now it’s actually happened.
“It’s unbelievable.”
When asked how he planned to spend his good fortune, the man said his prize would set him up for the future.
“I’ll be able to buy myself a beautiful new home,” he said.
“I will certainly be investing some of my prize and saving it for the future.
“It’s incredible and will really help me get ahead.”
Minto Newsagency owner Jenny Zheng said it was the first time the outlet had sold a division one winning entry.
“We were so excited when we learnt we had sold this life-changing entry,” she said.
“We are so glad our winner has now come forward and checked their ticket.
“Congratulations to him! We hope he enjoys his prize.”
In 2019, Monday & Wednesday Lotto and Saturday Lotto created 203 millionaires across Australia.
The winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 4049 on Saturday 9 May 2020 were 35, 39, 38, 22, 21 and 7, while the supplementary numbers were 34 and 44.
Across Australia, there were 11 division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 4049 – four from Victoria, three from New South Wales, two from Western Australia, and one each from South Australia and Queensland.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 119 so far this calendar year, including 31 won by New South Wales Lotteries customers.
Between 1 January and 31 December 2019, there were 289 division one winning Saturday Lotto entries across Australia, which collectively won more than $333.41 million.
