A Marburg man has confessed he’s been too stunned to sleep since discovering he scored more than $1.2 million in the weekend’s Saturday Gold Lotto draw.
The Queensland resident held one of four division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4493, drawn Saturday 10 August 2024. Each entry pocketed $1,244,104.42.
The triumphant man couldn’t believe his eyes, revealing he had to keep checking his ticket online to confirm the life-changing news was true.
“I’m very good!” he laughed while speaking to an official from The Lott.
“I’m stoked. I’d be a bit louder but everyone’s asleep.
“We’ve been looking to buy a house, so it’s come at a perfect time.
“I checked my ticket seconds after the draw was complete and I just couldn’t believe it.
“I checked my numbers, then I exited the app, then I checked again, then I exited the app again, then I checked again. It was never-ending!
“I told my wife, and she didn’t believe me at first.
“We jumped straight on the internet and started looking at all sorts of cars and houses and holiday destinations.
“I couldn’t sleep after that. In fact, I haven’t really slept for the past two days!
“I’ve played Lotto for over 30 years on and off. I usually have a weekly entry with marked numbers but this ticket I bought on a whim of the day of the draw. It was just a QuickPick.
“It was a completely random decision!
“We know we need to be smart with our decisions, so although we’ve been daydreaming, we’ll be speaking with a financial advisor first.
“Thank you so much!”
The winning System 9 QuickPick entry was purchased at Spar Express Marburg, 102 Queen Street, Marburg.
Spar Express Marburg owner Ankush Basatia said the team were ecstatic to have sold a division one winning Saturday Gold Lotto entry.

The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4493 on 12 August 2024 were 42, 37, 4 ,45 10 and 38, while the supplementary numbers were 36 and 15.
Across Australia, there were four division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4493 – three in Queensland and one in Western Australia.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 264 so far in 2024, including 67 won by Golden Casket customers.
