A Normanville family have had a sleepless night after discovering they had scored a division one prize of $1 million in last night’s Monday & Wednesday X Lotto draw.
The Fleurieu Penninsula locals, held one of two division one winning entries nationally in Monday & Wednesday X Lotto draw 3909, drawn Wednesday 2 October 2019. They take home the guaranteed division one prize of $1 million.
Sharing her joy with a SA Lotteries official this morning to confirm the win, one family member recounted how they discovered the life-changing news.
“Late last night my son checked our ticket on the app and he raced straight over to tell me,” she explained.
“He said ‘Mum, I think we’ve won a million dollars!’. I couldn’t believe it. I just kept looking at the ticket.
“We were completely stunned. We couldn’t do anything. I don’t think any of us got any sleep!
“I still can’t believe it. I’m shaking.
“We’ve been playing this ticket for about six years now. We marked some of the numbers and then topped the rest up with a QuickPick.
“It was the QuickPick numbers that got us the win. It’s just amazing!”
When asked how they planned to enjoy the windfall, the winner said they had a few things in mind.
“We aren’t sure quite yet how we will spend it. The news is still sinking in,” she confessed.
“There are a few things we can do around the house but it will just make our lives a lot easier overall which is great!
“I’ll still head off to work today though and I’ll keep working.”
The winning family, who wish to remain anonymous, purchased their ticket at Normanville Pharmacy, 85 Main Street, Normanville.
Normanville Pharmacy owner Emma French said she was absolutely thrilled to have sold her outlets first division one winning entry.
“That is just so exciting!” she exclaimed.
“This is the first division one winning entry we’ve ever sold so we are just so happy!
“We are so happy for our winner and we are beyond delighted for them.
“We’ll be telling all of our customers we’ve sold a division one winning entry.
“It’s a lovely small town so everyone will be thrilled to know that someone from the area has won rather than someone in a big city.
“Congratulations to our winners! We wish them the best with their prize!”

The winning numbers in Monday & Wednesday X Lotto draw 3909 on Wednesday 2 October 2019 were 9, 23, 41, 33, 3 and 4, while the supplementary numbers were 34 and 29.
Across Australia, there were two division one winning entries nationally in Monday & Wednesday X Lotto draw 3909 – one each from South Australia and Victoria.
