A group of plant operators from south-west Sydney have had a great start to the day after they discovered their private syndicate won $2.2 million in the weekend’s Saturday Lotto Superdraw.

The syndicate’s entry was one of the nine division one winning entries across Australia in Saturday Lotto draw 3873 on 1 September 2018. Each entry won a division one prize of $2,222,222.23.

Speaking to a NSW Lotteries official this morning, the private syndicate leader shared the win was life changing for the south-west Sydney workmates.

“This is amazing! I am in this syndicate with a bunch of workmates, there’s about 16 of us in it, so this is brilliant for all of us,” he exclaimed.

“It is a work syndicate, we are plant operators. So this will change our lives.

“I checked the numbers online and didn’t think this ticket was a winner, so I was going to chuck it out but thought I should double check it first. I am so glad I did!

“I haven’t been able to speak to any of my friends yet to let them know about the win, so I can’t wait to speak to them. They’re going to be rapt!

“It’s made my day and I know it will make theirs too! I am so glad I can share this with all my workmates.

“I will call the boss and get him to get all the boys together to surprise them!

“We will definitely go out and celebrate. It will be a big celebration, that’s for sure.”

When asked how the 16 members of the syndicate might spend their shares of the windfall, the happy syndicate leader said it would make a dramatic difference to all of their lives.

“It’s come at a great time for us all,” he shared.

“I am going to buy a fishing boat and put some of it towards a mortgage.

“I know that some of the other guys will put it towards mortgages, renovations and definitely spoil their families.”

The winning Campbelltown entry was purchased at Marketfair Newsagency, Shop 25A Campbelltown Marketfair, 4 Tindall Street, Campbelltown.

Marketfair Newsagency owner Robert Bui said he was thrilled to have sold another division one winning entry.

“It is the fourth division one winning entry we have sold since owning the shop with the last one sold in 2016,” he said.

“It’s great to have another one and we can’t wait to have some more wins!”

So far this calendar year, Monday & Wednesday Lotto and Saturday Lotto have created 131 millionaires across Australia.

The winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 3873 on Saturday 1 September 2018 were 36, 16, 14, 10, 43 and 5, while the supplementary numbers were 19 and 18.
