The Southern Downs’ newest division one winner has been found, with a local resident coming forward this afternoon to claim his division one prize.
The Queensland player held one of the seven division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4041 on Saturday 11 April 2020. Each division one winning entry takes home a prize of $608,714.79.
Confirming his life-changing prize with an official from the Lott this afternoon, the man recounted how he discovered his good fortune.
“I actually checked my ticket at about 2am last Sunday morning after the draw. I just had a funny feeling I had better check it,” he laughed.
“It’s pretty good! I couldn’t quite believe it.
“I didn’t sleep too well after that just thinking about it.
“I’ve been playing Lotto for a while and I’ve been marking my entry with family birthdates.
“We haven’t had the chance to celebrate just yet, but maybe we’ll crack open a bottle of champagne soon.
“We’ll wait until we see the money in the bank before we make too many plans but we’re certainly going to use it as a nest egg for our retirement.”
The happy man, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning entry at Killarney Newsagency, 28 Willow Street, Killarney.
In 2019, Monday & Wednesday Lotto and Saturday Gold Lotto created 203 millionaires across Australia.
The winning numbers in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4041 on Saturday 11 April 2020 were 11, 10, 14, 26, 5 and 27, while the supplementary numbers were 35 and 37.
Across Australia, there were seven division one winning entries in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4041 – two each from Victoria and Queensland, and one each from New South Wales, Tasmania and Western Australia.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 302 so far this financial year, including 78 won by Golden Casket customers.
Between 1 January and 31 December 2019, there were 289 division one winning Saturday Gold Lotto entries across Australia, which collectively won more than $333.41 million.
