A group of 13 Gymea workers have begun celebrating their long-running Saturday Lotto syndicate winning $1.4 million in the weekend’s draw.
The Southern Sydney syndicate held one of the four division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 4261 on Saturday 21 May 2022. Each division one winning entry nabbed $1,393,369.77.
In addition to winning division one, the syndicate’s System entry also won division three 18 times, division four 45 times, and division six 20 times, bolstering the total prize to $1,410,290.72.
Speaking to an official from The Lott, the syndicate leader explained how the winning group discovered their good fortune.
“There’s 13 people in this syndicate. It’s from our workplace, and I’ve been putting it on for 15 years using the same special numbers,” she said.
“One of the guys saw the draw on Saturday night, recognised the numbers and started calling everyone.
“Everyone gets about $108,000 each, so it’s just fantastic.
“Most are going to pay off their mortgages with their share of the prize. It’s going to help a lot of people.
“It’s a nice way to start the week. It’s brilliant.”
The private syndicate’s winning entry was purchased at The Shire Newsagency & Office Supplies, 99 Gymea Bay Road, Gymea.
