A St Leonards couple have been awoken this morning by the revelation they won $800,000 in last night’s Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw.
The Launceston residents held one of the five division one winning entries in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 4169, drawn Wednesday 30 March. Each division one winning entry takes home $800,000.
In addition to winning division one, the Tasmanian players also scored division three 6 times, and division four 3 times, boosting their total windfall to $801,973.25.
When an official from The Lott called the dynamic duo this morning to break the life-enhancing news, the winning man was watering his veggie garden and his wife was still in bed.
“Oh dear, I’m shaking! This is wonderful!” the wife laughed when the magnitude of their win was revealed.
“Initially, when you called, I was still trying to wake up, and my husband was out watering the veggie garden. He told me, ‘I think we might’ve won $800,000’, and I replied with ‘B*******!’
“We’ve been doing this for years and years – since Lotto started!
“One of our daughters recently said to me, ‘Oh mum, I wish someone in the family could win Lotto’. We can finally tell her that we’ve won . We well and truly did it!
“We will surprise our daughters with the exciting news today. This will put a smile on everyone’s faces.
“I was going to get my car fixed as it’s been having problems recently, but now I can donate it to someone and buy a new car!
“Oh, I’m still shaking! Thank you!”
Their winning marked System 7 entry was purchased at Newstead Newsagency & Lotto, 5 David Street, Newstead.
Newstead Newsagency & Lotto owner Russell Gray said it’s fantastic news for his outlet and the Launceston community.
“I’ve owned the outlet for over a year now, and this is the first division one winning entry we’ve sold since I’ve taken over ownership. It’s great to see, and we’re so happy!” he said.
“The largest prize that the previous owners sold was $800,000, so it’s a wonderful coincidence to have also sold an $800,000 division one prize.
“Congratulations to the couple, and we hope they can do some much good with the prize.”
The winning numbers in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 4169 on Wednesday 30 March 2022 were 20, 21, 13, 11, 16, 18, while the supplementary numbers were 28 and 30.
Across Australia, there were five division one winning entries in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 4169 – one in Tasmania and two each in New South Wales and South Australia.
