A Stafford woman joked she nearly needed an ambulance after her heart skipped a beat upon discovering she’d scored a $2 million win in the weekend’s Saturday Gold Lotto draw.
The North Brisbane resident held one of the two division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4541, drawn Saturday 25 January 2025. Her total prize was $2,473,272.71. It’s the first major lottery win to land in Brisbane’s inner suburbs in 2025.
The winning woman was about to leave the house for a relaxing walk on her public holiday when an unexpected call from a lottery official stopped her in her tracks.
“Oh my god! Oh my god!” she joyfully yelled.
“My heart is racing! I can’t believe this.
“I started to write down the total prize as you read it out, but I got so flustered that I barely made it halfway!
“Oh my god! I’ll ring my sister! She might need a wine in her hand before I call.
"I've had a pretty laid-back day off. I was actually about to leave my house to go for a walk, got my AirPods in and everything, but bugger the walk now.
“Thank you so much. I can’t get my heart to stop racing. I might need an ambulance!”
When asked how she planned to embrace her new millionaire status, the Queenslander shared she was most excited to use her prize to support her nearest and dearest.
“I’ll help my family, for sure,” she exclaimed.
“It will be a huge help to them.
“Oh my god! Thank you!”
Her winning 25-game QuickPick entry was purchased via The Lott app – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
