A Stuart Park man and his mum’s weekly tradition of grabbing a few Instant Scratch-Its tickets as a “little treat” has surprised them with a $10,000 treat.

The $1 Giddy Up Cup Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Stuart Park Corner Store, Stuart Park Shopping Centre, 11 Westralia Street, Stuart Park.

When an official from The Lott called the gleeful man, the Northern Territory local shared how the winning moment came about.

“There were a lot of mixed emotions!” he laughed.

“My mum actually scratched it, and I wasn’t home at the time, so she had called my wife to confirm. She thought she didn’t win anything major at first. Imagine if she disposed of the ticket!

“It wasn’t until I came back home, and she showed me the Instant Scratch-Its ticket.

“I said to her, ‘Is this right?’ and she responded with, ‘Yes! Have a look again!’, and then there was a revelation that she did, in fact, win the top prize. I couldn’t believe it.

“I started to yell, ‘Ten thousand dollars! You’ve won $10,000!’.

“Mum is definitely a good luck charm. She’s the one who got all of us kids into Instant Scratch-Its and now it’s a weekly ritual. She’s really into it.

“It was such an exciting moment, and we will remember it for the rest of our lives.

“We’re going to celebrate over a nice dinner.”

With $10,000 about to be shared amongst the two of them, the dynamic duo said they would use their prize to relocate to a new house.

“We’ll probably buy a ticket to return back to our hometown and relocate. Time will tell!” he said.

“This will help us very much.”

The Stuart Park Corner Store team wished their local winner all the best and thanked them for their continuous support.
