A Darwin man thought he’d already reached the pinnacle of holiday bliss – until a phone call about his $1.2 million TattsLotto win turned his dream getaway into an unforgettable celebration.
The Territorian held one of the four division one winning entries nationally in TattsLotto draw 4519, drawn Saturday 9 November 2024. He scored $1,280,804.05.
The newly-minted millionaire, who had been relaxing and enjoying a well-deserved break, initially ignored missed calls from lottery officials before curiosity got the better of him.
“That’s insane!” he laughed.
“Thank you very much. I am away from home on holidays, and I noticed I had received a couple of missed calls and a text message.
“I looked at the text message and immediately thought it was spam. I had the trip from hell getting to my holiday destination, and I was not in the mood to let anything else spoil my holiday.
“I almost didn’t let it phase me, but I logged into my online account with The Lott, and I checked my ticket. That’s when I saw I had won $1.2 million!
“Let’s just say there was some explicit language here and there – some colourful language I won’t repeat.
“It hasn’t sunk in.”
With $1.2 million headed straight to his bank account, the thrilled winner couldn’t wait to plan a family reunion and share his million-dollar surprise.
“Once my holiday is finished, I’ll pay my son a visit!” he exclaimed.
“I might not be home for a month!”
His winning 7-game QuickPick was purchased on The Lott website – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
