A Tamworth couple who accidentally bought a Lotto ticket that landed them $1 million has declared the win is “a lovely way to finish a crappy year off”.
The New England residents held one of the four division one winning entries in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 4039, drawn 30 December 2020. They take home a division one prize of $1 million.
“Wow! This is the biggest shock! I’m absolutely gobsmacked” the winning woman exclaimed when an official from The Lott confirmed her prize.
“This ticket was actually a mistake. My husband thought he was buying into Powerball, but he actually got a Monday & Wednesday Lotto ticket. When he realised, he just thought he’d keep the ticket. I’m glad he did!
“I’ve just about had a heart attack.
“I think I’ll just spend the next few days being shocked. It’s just come out of nowhere.
“This win will help us out immensely. It’s a lovely way to finish a crappy year off.”
The winning duo, who wish to remain anonymous, purchased their entry at Shoppingworld Newsagency, Shop 18, Tamworth Shoppingworld, Bridge Street, Tamworth.
The winning numbers in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 4039 on Wednesday 30 December 2020 were 21, 2, 32, 30, 11 and 5, while the supplementary numbers were 25 and 42.
Across Australia, there were four division one winning entries in Monday & Wednesday Lotto draw 4039 – three from New South Wales and one from Queensland.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 210 so far this financial year, including 57 won by NSW Lotteries customers.
Last financial year, Monday & Wednesday Lotto created 86 millionaires across Australia.
