A brand new shed is at the very top of the wishlist for a Tannum Sands couple after scratching a top prize of $50,000 on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
The top prize winning $4 Rubik’s game ticket was purchased at TSG Tannum Sands, Shop 8, Tannum Sands Shopping Centre, Tannum Sands.
It’s the third major Instant Scratch-Its win to land in the Gladstone region during the past fortnight.
Confirming the latest instant win with an official from the Lott today, the Tannum Sands couple explained they’d spent the weekend celebrating the exciting news.
“Thank you very much,” the winning man laughed.
“My partner and I bought the ticket last week some time.
“It sat on the counter for days and my wife said that she’d better scratch it so it didn’t accidentally end up in the bin.
“So over the weekend, we scratched the ticket.
“We couldn’t believe it. I just about fell off the couch and my wife instantly burst into tears!
“It definitely took a little while for the news to sink in.
“It’s absolutely amazing.”
When asked how they planned to enjoy their windfall, the husband had one particular thing in mind.
“We’re going to build a shed,” he declared.
“We will also put it towards the mortgage and pay a few bills.
“It will help us get ahead.
“We’re still pinching ourselves!”
TSG Tannum Sands employee Shashi Mago said the win marked a special milestone for the outlet.
“This is the first top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket we’ve told,” he said.
“We are so happy for our winners and we can’t wait to tell all our customers the exciting news.
“Congratulations to them! We certainly hope this is the beginning of many big wins for our customers.”
Between 1 July 2019 and 30 June 2020, there were 151 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across the Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $11.8 million in top prizes.
During this same time, Instant Scratch-Its players enjoyed more than 29.1 million wins across all prize tiers worth more than $235.25 million. This equates to more than half a million dollars won on Instant Scratch-Its every day.
