Ten Whyalla locals are in celebration mode today after discovering their syndicate, which has been running for over 23 years, scored $2.5 million in the weekend’s Saturday X Lotto draw.

The store syndicate held one of the four division one winning entries in Saturday X Lotto draw 4189, drawn Saturday 11 September 2021 – each pocketed $2.5 million.

In addition to winning division one, the syndicate’s marked System 10 entry also scored division three 24 times, division four 90 times and division six 80 times, bolstering their total windfall to $2,521,223.10.

Each of the 10 syndicate members receives a share worth $252,122.31.

Shares into the winning syndicate were purchased at Westland Hotel Motel, 100 McDouall Stuart Avenue, Whyalla Norrie.

Westland Hotel Motel owner Darren Beare said he couldn’t be happier to see some of his local customers win big.

“We started this Lotto syndicate about 23 years ago with a group of 10 of our regulars,” he said.

“Each of the syndicate members picked a number and they formed the System 10 entry.

“Over the years, a few of the syndicate members have changed, however, the 10 numbers remain the same as they did back then.

“We are so excited to hear that those 10 numbers, picked over two decades ago, finally delivered a division one won!

“Congratulations to all of those in the syndicate. We really couldn’t be happier for you.

“A few of the winners came in this morning and some are still here celebrating. They are all so excited! Can you hear them cheering now? It’s celebration time in here.

“The rest of the winners have said they will pop in today and we can’t wait to congratulate them on this amazing win.”

The Lott spokesperson Ally Ramsamy said some syndicate members held unregistered entries and might have yet to discover their exciting news.

“This syndicate held one of the four division one winning entries in the weekend’s Saturday X Lotto Lotto draw,” she said.

“I can imagine these syndicate members aren’t struggling with any Monday blues after making their division one discovery.

“We will be reaching out to those syndicate members who registered their entries, but there are still some members who have unregistered entries and may not yet know they’re part of this winning syndicate.

“If you purchased a share in a syndicate for the recent Saturday X Lotto draw, today’s the day to check it!  If you discover you’re holding a winning share, call SA Lotteries on 131 868 to start the prize claim process!”
