A Tamworth mother and son duo are turning up the heat, quite literally, with brand new heaters just in time for winter after they unearthed a $25,000 top prize Instant Scratch-Its win.
The northeast New South Wales residents’ winning $2 Caption This Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at CTC South Tamworth, Shop 3, Southgate Shopping Centre, 4-10 Kathleen Street, South Tamworth.
The gleeful family members were still hopping with excitement when an official from The Lott called to confirm the news.
“We’re not bad today!” the winning mother laughed.
“I’m still in disbelief. My son and I buy Instant Scratch-Its tickets every now and then, but the funny thing is we weren’t planning on getting one at all that day.
“The store had these cute Easter packs with chocolate eggs and tickets, so we grabbed one as a little treat. We never imagined it would turn into a $25,000 surprise!
“We couldn’t believe our eyes! It’s amazing.
“My son keeps saying, ‘Let’s not get too excited until it’s in the bank account!’. I think he’s scared there will be some sort of typo.”
With winter around the corner, the pair already knew how they’d spend their newfound treasure.
“We’ve already decided we’ll use it to get aircon installed in our homes! Last winter was freezing, so it’ll be nice to stay warm this time around,” she said.
“Thank you so much! What a magical Easter.”
CTC South Tamworth manager Cherie Balsdon said she was thrilled to sell a top-prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket from an Easter bundle.
“It’s great news. What a nice time of year to win!” she said.
“We’ve already started making up some Mother’s Day Instant Scratch-Its packs. Hopefully, there will be another winner in them.
