When a Townsville woman discovered a $25,000 win on her Instant Scratch-Its ticket, she immediately booked an optometrist’s appointment to ensure her eyes weren’t deceiving her.

The winning $2 10 X The Cash Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at North Tamborine Newsagency, Shop B2, 17-27 Main Western Road, North Tamborine.

Confirming her win with an official from The Lott this morning, the North Queenslander said she was still shaking with excitement after receiving the ultimate birthday surprise.

“I received this ticket as a gift from some relatives in Brisbane,” she explained.

“I scratched it on my birthday, and it was a total shock. I felt so overwhelmed by it!

“When I first thought I’d won, I thought I was seeing things. I booked myself into the optometrist to get my eyes checked because I didn’t believe it.

“But then I got a family member to check it for me, and they confirmed it was real, so I cancelled the appointment.

“I didn’t celebrate. I spent the afternoon trying to get over the shock. I sat on my couch for hours, just looking at the ticket. I was trying to process it all.

“It certainly made my birthday very special. It was unexpected!

“I called my relatives to tell them the ticket they gave me won me $25,000. They were amazed as well!

“I’m going to spoil them a little with the windfall, and the rest I’ll save for the future.

“I’m a simple person, so I want to use the prize wisely. The news hasn’t even sunk in yet!”

North Tamborine Newsagency owner Gavin O'Neill said he couldn’t wait to sell another top prize winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket to a customer.

“Wow! How exciting is that,” he shared.

“It would have been such a great birthday for her. We can only imagine her joy when she uncovered this top prize.

“We’d love to send the winner our congratulations. We’re over the moon for her!

“Fingers crossed we have more major prize wins soon.”

In 2021, there were 157 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across The Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $10 million in top prizes.
