Three Sydneysiders can look forward to an especially merry and bright festive season after sharing last night’s $12 million Powerball jackpot.

There were three division one winning entries, all from the Greater Sydney and Blue Mountains, in last night’s Powerball draw 1491 on Thursday 12 December 2024. Each division one winning entry pocketed $4 million.

While two of the entries were registered to players from Winmalee and Liverpool, one entry from Chullora was unregistered, meaning this winner may be completely oblivious to their multi-million-dollar prize.

If the Chullora player had registered their ticket with The Lott Members Club, they could already be celebrating alongside the Winmalee and Liverpool winners.

Single mum from Winmalee scores “Christmas miracle” with life-changing $4 million Powerball win

After a challenging few years, a single mum from Winmalee believes she has been blessed with the ultimate ray of sunshine this festive season – a staggering $4 million prize in last night’s Powerball draw.

When an official from The Lott contacted the winning woman this morning, the gleeful mum shared she’d had the worst night's sleep following her multi-million-dollar discovery last night.

“I haven’t been able to function since I checked my ticket!” she cheered.

“I had the worst night’s sleep because I was just too excited.

“I even felt a little unwell from the sheer shock.

“I’ve been a single mum working really hard for my family, so this is truly a Christmas miracle.

With $4 million set to boost her bank account, the hard-working mum shared that the prize would be life-changing for her family and would be used to invest in the future.

“Even though I’m feeling tired today, I just feel so happy knowing we have a bright future ahead of us,” she said.

“It will be about saving and investing in the future. It’s going to be life-changing for us.

“It’s going to be a special Christmas this year! Thank you so much!”

Her winning 16-game QuickPick entry was purchased on The Lott website – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.

From counting sheep to counting millions: $4 million Powerball win leaves Liverpool man awake all night

A Liverpool man has confessed he barely slept a wink last night, spending the time tossing and turning following his $4 million Powerball discovery.

“Thank you very much!” he laughed when speaking to an official from The Lott this morning.

“It’s amazing. I’m in shock.

“I’ve been playing for two decades; probably since I turned 18.

“I haven’t had much sleep, to be honest. I checked the ticket late last night after the Powerball draw results came out.

“My wife is in complete disbelief too. It’s going to be a crazy day!

“My priority is to pay off all the bills, and then I’ll look at investments.

“I’d love to go on a holiday too and complete some house renovations.

“Thank you so much!”

His winning Powerhit entry was purchased via The Lott app – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.

Mystery Chullora player yet to come forward and claim $4 million Powerball prize

A Chullora player is poised to receive a healthy boost to their bank balance just in time for 2025, but first, they need to check their Powerball ticket and discover their $4 million win.

If the mystery player had registered their entry to The Lott Members Club, lottery officials would have been able to reach out to them this evening to break the incredible news.

Instead, they are eagerly waiting for the ticketholder to check their ticket and make contact to start the prize claim process.

The Lott spokesperson Anna Hobdell said she hoped New South Wales’ newest multi-millionaire realised their good fortune soon.

“What a way to end 2024 and welcome 2025!” she said.

“We can’t wait to unite this mystery winner with their $4 million prize and have that incredibly special conversation about what their future might hold.

“We’re encouraging all Chullora residents and visitors to check their entries, because you may just discover you’ve won an exhilarating prize set to change the course of your future.

“If you discover you're the newly minted multi-millionaire we’re searching for, call 131 868 to begin the exciting prize claim process.

“This is an important reminder to all players to always register their tickets to an online account or players card with The Lott Members Club. If the mystery player had registered their entry, we would have been able to reach out to them this evening.”

The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1491 on Thursday 12 December 2024 were 9, 11, 19, 3, 14, 23 and 16. The all-important Powerball number was 16.

Across Australia, there were three division one winning entries in Powerball draw 1491 – all from New South Wales.

The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 422 so far in FY24, including 125 won by NSW Lotteriescustomers.

In FY24, 19 Powerball division one winning entries across Australia pocketed more than $758 million in prize money.

During this time, Powerball offered a $200 million jackpot, the biggest in Australian history, and an Adelaide man who won $150 million became the nation’s biggest individual lottery winner.

Of the 19 Powerball division one winning entries in FY24, eight landed in New South Wales, six in Victoria, three in Queensland and one each in South Australia and Western Australia.
