It might be cold today, but one Tumut man has admitted he’s “sweating like crazy” after discovering he won $200,000 on a Lucky Lotteries ticket he was given as a gift.

The player from the Riverina region won the 1st Prize of $200,000 in Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot draw 1494, drawn Monday 27 July 2020.

The ticket was unregistered, so officials from the Lott had no way of contacting the winner to break the news and had to wait for him to come forward to claim his prize.

This morning, the man checked his ticket and discovered he’d won an incredible $200,000.

“I am so nervous! I am feeling very shaky!” he laughed.

“It’s amazing.

“My wife was reading the paper, and she saw they were looking for a Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot winner from Tumut.

“I remembered I had some tickets that I’d been given as a birthday gift, so I came down to the newsagency to check them.

“That’s when I found out I won. I thought ‘Oh my god!’.

“I have never won anything.

“It’s such a big shock. My wife is just as nervous as me!

“We just don’t know what’s going on.

“What a win! God, I love this!

“It’s freezing today, but here I am, sweating like crazy!”

When asked how he planned to enjoy his prize, the elated winner said he was keen to take the day off work and make some plans for his future.

“I am going to call work straight after this call and tell them I am not coming into work! How could I concentrate after news like this?” he exclaimed.

“Then I am going to get my family over for some celebratory drinks. I am just going to sit back and wonder how the hell this happened.

“I don’t know what I will do with my prize. I will probably put it towards my retirement.”

The winning entry was purchased at Tumut Newsagency, 76 Wynyard Street, Tumut.

Tumut Newsagency owner Roger Maybury said the team was thrilled the winner had come forward and claimed his prize.

“We couldn’t be happier for him,” he said.

“It’s such exciting news. We are sure he has some incredible plans for his prize.

“It’s such a wonderful feeling selling someone a ticket that wins a major prize.

“Hopefully we do it again soon!”

The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $5.32 million for draw 1495 while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot is now $2.19 million for draw 10397.
