A Melbourne pensioner is thanking his unusual theory for choosing the winning numbers that scored him a Set for Life division one prize that will yield him $4.8 million over the next 20 years.
The Victorian player was one of three division one winning entries nationally in Set for Life draw 1908, drawn 26 October 2020 and takes home the division one prize of $20,000 a month for 20 years.
Sharing his excitement with an official from The Lott this morning, the happy man revealed the interesting way he chose his numbers.
“I was very surprised when I saw my numbers had come out!” he exclaimed.
“I checked them on the app, and I thought it had to be wrong. I went to the Tatts outlet to check and when they scanned the ticket and exclaimed ‘oh my god!’ I knew it was real.
“I was really, really surprised but really, really happy!
“I’ve been playing Set for Life for a couple of years but changed my numbers a few months ago.
“Last time the big Powerball jackpot was won I had a look at the numbers and thought to myself ‘those must be winning numbers’ and decided to play those from now on.
“So whenever I mark an entry I make sure some of those numbers are in there.
“When I saw the winning numbers in Set for Life – I didn’t believe it!”
When asked how he planned to enjoy his 20k on replay, the humble bloke said he was excited never to need a bank loan again.
“I don’t have a car at the moment, so that’s the first thing I’ll buy!” he declared.
“I’ll save up for a bit and get a nice new one. I’ll probably invest some of the rest.
“I might go away for a bit of a break too when I can.
“Most of all I’m just excited not to have to ask the bank for money ever again!”
The happy winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased his winning 4 game marked entry at Reservoir Newsagency, 36 Edwardes Street, Reservoir.
Reservoir Newsagency manager Alisha Murray said she was very excited to discover her outlet had sold a division one winning entry.
“We’re so excited to think we’ve changed the life of one of our valued customers!” she exclaimed.

“The last time we sold a division one prize was a TattsLotto entry in 2014, so it’s been a long time coming!
“This will be our 34th division one winning entry since we opened more than 30 years ago.
“This is especially sweet as it is the first time we’ve sold a Set for Life division one prize, and we’ve been waiting so long to make someone’s dream of winning $20,000 a month for 20 years a reality!

Across the country, there were three division one winners in Set for Life draw 1908 on Monday 26 October 2020 – two winners from Victoria and one from New South Wales.
The winning numbers in Set for Life draw 1908 on Monday 26 October 2020 were 11, 26, 33, 4, 20, 22 and 18, with the bonus numbers 23 and 19.
This marks the 69th Set for Life division one winner nationally since the game began and the 15th Set for Life division one winner for the year.
