A Maitland couple have fastened their airplane seatbelts extra tight after discovering they won more than $830,000 in the weekend’s Saturday Lotto draw, right before take-off.
The New South Wales residents held one of the six division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Lotto draw 4557, drawn Saturday 22 March 2025. Each division one winning entry scored $833,493.02.
The gleeful couple, who checked their ticket just moments before getting on a plane, were still stunned by the enormity of the win when they landed and spoke with an official from The Lott.
“I’m a bit speechless!” the winning husband laughed.
“I was at the airport when I saw all these missed calls and texts telling me to check my tickets.
“That’s when I checked my online account and realised I had won division one. It was a funny place to discover I’d won the lottery.
“I could hardly sit still on the plane afterwards.
“My first reaction was ‘Is someone scamming me?’. I told my wife, and she was very sceptical as well.
“Now we know it’s real and it’s starting to sink in, we’re just shell-shocked.
“We’ll be able to buy a house. It feels like it’s been a bit out of reach lately, so it’s quite the turnaround.
“I’ve played Saturday Lotto for the last 10 years. I like to play special numbers and some random numbers, but it was the QuickPick that scored the win.
“Thank you so much. I’m blown away!”
Their winning 6-game QuickPick entry was purchased via The Lott app – the official home of Australia’s lotteries.
The winning numbers in Saturday Lotto draw 4557 on 22 March 2025 were 16, 11, 42, 34, 29 and 45, while the supplementary numbers were 14 and 18.
Across Australia, there were three division one winning entries in Saturday Lotto draw 4557 – three in Victoria, two in New South Wales and one in Queensland.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 345 so far in FY25, including 93 won by NSW Lotteries customers.
In 2024, Saturday Lotto created 149 millionaires across Australia.
During this time, there were 316 division one winning Saturday Lotto entries across Australia that collectively won more than $400.2 million.
