It’s possible someone in Victoria is going to sleep this evening completely unaware they won tonight’s entire $80 million Powerball jackpot and suddenly became the state’s biggest lottery winner and Australia’s third-biggest lottery winner.
The player held the only division one winning entry in tonight’s Powerball draw 1317, drawn Thursday 12 August 2021.
However, officials from The Lott do not have the complete contact details for the online player and have not been able to contact them to break the life-changing news.
In addition to the division one winning entry, there were a total of 2,986,866 prizes worth more than $51.55 million won in divisions two to nine in tonight’s draw. Among those winners were 13 division two winners who each take home a prize worth $109,858.60.
The Lott spokesperson Lauren Cooney said someone’s life had just changed forever, but they might not yet have realised it.
“Imagine going to bed tonight not knowing you’ve just won $80 million? That’s the reality for one Victorian player after scoring division one in tonight’s Powerball draw!” she exclaimed.

The winning numbers in Powerball draw 1317 on Thursday 12 August 2021 were 17, 10, 4, 26, 19, 23 and 21. The all-important Powerball number was 7.
Across Australia, there was one division one winning entry in Powerball draw 1317 –the entry from Victoria.
The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 281 so far this calendar year, including 107 won by Tatts customers.
In the 12 months to 30 June 2021, 17 Powerball division one winners across Australia pocketed more than $519.8 million in prize money.
During this time, Powerball twice offered an $80 million jackpot – the biggest prize offered by any Australian lottery game.
Of the 17 Powerball division one winning entries in FY21, 10 landed in New South Wales, five in Queensland and two in Victoria.
