A nurse from Wagga Wagga today discovered that a gift she was given on Mother’s Day yielded her one of the top prizes of $100,000 on an Instant Scratch-Its ticket.

The winning $5 Crosswords Forest Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Nextra Sturt Mall, Shop 21, Sturt Mall, Wagga Wagga.

Sharing her excitement with a NSW Lotteries official this morning, the Wagga Wagga mum explained how happily surprised she was when she discovered she won $100,000.

“I got it as a Mother’s Day gift from my family. I got a few other little things with it, so I didn’t scratch it straight away,” she explained.

“When I did scratch it, I thought I was seeing things, so I put it away and decided I would check it the next day.

“Then I took it to the newsagency and they said I had won something but they couldn’t tell me what it was.

“When I went into your office and I realised I had actually won I just cried so much. I was so shocked!

“I called my children and told them I won. They were all really happy for me.

“This has been the best Mother’s Day ever! I don’t think I’ll ever be able to top it and I definitely won’t ever forget it.”

When asked how she planned to use her instant windfall, the happy winner said it would help speed up her retirement.

“I am going to pay some bills and set myself up for my retirement,” she shared.

“It really has come at the perfect time.

“I am going to have a bit of a celebration this weekend. I will go out for a nice dinner and have a few drinks with my family.”

Nextra Sturt Mall co-owner Natalie Sutherland said she was thrilled to see one of her customers win a top prize.

“It’s just so great,” she said.

“Our winner came in and she was so excited.

“She is such a lovely lady and said the win had come at a great time.

“We are truly thrilled for her and hope she enjoys her prize.”

In 2018, 155 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners collectively took home more than $14.26 million.

During this same time, 25,716,051 winners pocketed more than $205.8 million across all Instant Scratch-Its prize tiers.
