A Yamba man has his grandparents to thank for his incredible Instant Scratch-Its win after their unassuming birthday present revealed itself to be worth an incredible $25,000.

The top prize-winning $2 Mint Money Instant Scratch-Its ticket was purchased at Yamba Newsagency, 24 Yamba Street, Yamba.

“I’m still in shock, mate! It’s hard to process a win like this,” the elated winner said when confirming his win with an official from The Lott.

“It was actually a birthday present from my grandparents, and at first I thought, ‘oh, this will be a bit of fun’.

“Then, as I scratched away at the ticket, my mouth just hit the floor.

“I had to confirm the win with a few people before I even let myself believe it was real.

“In all honesty, I haven’t really slept properly over the last few nights. My mind has been racing!

“I’ll definitely have some fun with it, but I’ll put most of it away for the future.

“It’s so expensive these days, this will definitely be something that can assist me moving forward.”

Yamba Newsagency owner Tania Creber said she was over the moon to have sold a top prize-winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket and said she hoped there were more in the future.

“It’s an incredible feeling! I feel like I won too!” she said.

“This is one of our first Instant Scratch-Its top prize wins and the whole team is ecstatic.

“We’ve been letting customers know we’re a winning outlet and the community seems to be so excited for us.

“We’re also incredibly excited for our winner and wish them all the best for their future.”
